Hiking in Monte Crista, Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil

Thirty minutes drive from Joinville downtown, Monte Crista is a natural playground with river and wooden hanging bridge. It is a nice weekend getaway for family, to picnic, sunbathing and relax. For adventurers, like us, it's an exciting adventure to hike and camp there on a rainy day.

When we decide to go hiking on Thursday, our Brazilian friend Eduardo got bewilderment from his friends and colleagues calling him crazy to hike on such a hot summer day of 36 degrees Celsius! Luckily, or unluckily, he got 3 others crazy companions and the weather turned out to be foggy in the morning of that Saturday.

We reached Monte Crista around 9:30am, parked the car and walked across the hanging bridge with our gear. After some broad trail, we reached a river and jumped between rocks to go across.

The trail was filled with mud and slippery stones after the rain and its an exciting one with some 70-90 degree route. If it's a sunny day, actually it's a great hike with waterfall, river, fresh drinkable water along the way,
