We turned out going to 10 museums in our visits of Montevideo. All have Spanish descriptions only for the exhibits. It is a good practice of our spanish with the iphone dictionary handy.
My most favourite museums were the Museo de Historia del Arte and Museo Nacional de Artes Plasticas y Visuales. Both are free and have rich collection that one day is not enough to see each of them.
